On Saturday we made the short trip to Mooncoin for their Annual Under 6 blitz.
This year numbers have been great and we were able to enter a camoige team and 2 boys teams.
For a lot of our group, this was their first proper outing wearing the piltown colours and they more than rose to the occasion.
All 3 teams were presented with their new gear before we got started.
We had a big parade and took in all the attention that was given by the huge attendance.
Now we were ready to start hurling 💪
Our younger team led by coaches Donal and Raymond had a tough group that consisted of Ballygunner 2, Tullaroan and Graiguenamanagh.
Though inexperienced, they showed great heart and grit and played on till the very end. They enjoyed their first run out of games and this will stand to this group of lads for next year's blitz.
For our older team, this was their second year at the blitz, led by coaches Eddie and Philly.
We started off against Young Ireland's of Gowran and right from the off, they meant business and had a great win.
Next up was Rathnure of Wexford, a mighty battle and came out deserving winners at the end.
Finally we had the mighty Ballygunner. This was like a mini final as both teams had won their previous matches. A close and hard contest throughout and we came out on top 3 goals to 2 in the end.
All the kids got their medals and a well deserved goodie bag at the end.
We had a great day and leave with great memories that will last.
A big thank you to all the parents who brought the kids along and who bring them to training every Tuesday. Without them we wouldn't have the kids here.
