On Tuesda  evening we welcomed Ferrybank GAA to the complex for what was billed as a challenge match. "Challenge" proved to be the perfect description, as both games were fiercely contested from the first whistle to the last.

For the first time this season, we split our u7s and u8s into separate squads to take on their respective counterparts.

This reporter had the privilege of taking charge of the u7s, so commentary on the u8s is limited. (Although it's fitting that the only photo we managed to capture was of them!)

The 7s' match was the very definition of a game of two halves. Piltown dominated the opening period with some superbly worked scores and outstanding defending, preventing Ferrybank from ever settling into a rhythm.

The second half told a different story. Ferrybank showed tremendous determination, gradually chipping away at the deficit as the clock ticked down. By the final whistle, there was nothing to separate the sides after a thrilling contest.

It has been an exciting week for the club. Alongside the unveiling of ambitious plans for the complex and the next phase of our player development pathway, there have been plenty of conversations about about player retention, the environment created, and the values that define Piltown GAA.

The u7s finished their game a few minutes before the 8s. Rather than head home, a group of players asked if they could stay to cheer on their teammates.

That's what being part of a club is all about. By any measure, that's success.
