JUNIOR CAMOGIE – Summer League 2026.

Sunday 10th  May.

John Lockes 0 -05    Piltown  0 -10

We travelled to Callan on a beautiful , sunny morning to try keep the unbeaten run going against a home side looking to start theres.

It was sunny, but it was chilly as a strong breeze was blowing across the pitch towards the stand side, which helped neither side really. The first half was a bit lacking scoring wise, as the breeze and high free count put paid to any real sustained phases of play. The Piltown defence were strong and on top and restricted the home side to very little opportunity to score , and it showed on the board as their scoring came from the hurley of Sarah Roche as she expertly put her three opportunities from frees over the bar.
At the other end, towards the club house, Piltown were a bit laboured up front, and we relied on two frees and a point from play from Aine Doyle to have the scores level at half time .

Aine Doyle continued her scoring with one from play in the second minute of the second half , and this was matched with another free from Lockes Sarah Roche. It was turning into a duel between these two , and maybe now the game would spark to life?
Patsy Kenny was cleaning up at full back, as she broke down attacks, and then launched them for us, as the home side tried to get ahead. Ciara Dunne was having a lively game at wing back, two busy tackling midfielders in Aine Hahessy and Aoife O’Shea were having a right battle up against the Callan center pairing of Isabelle Norris and Elizabeth Keher and the tempo of the game was definitely higher, but still the free count was rising. Aine Doyle scored another free to put us ahead on the 39th minute , with Grace Farrell and another for Doyle stretching the lead out, half way through the half.

Ciara Dunne got a fine score as she burst forward after good work from Danielle Carroll and Leah Cooney found Dunne in space and she put the sliothar over the bar. Sarah Roche took her, and her teams , tally to 5 points when she pointed from play in the 23rd minute , with Grace Farrell and Leah Cooney closing out the scoring .
 FINAL SCORE :  JOHN LOCKES 0 -05  PILTOWN 0 -10
