Piltown U15 Féile Football Report
A very young Piltown Under-15 side made the early morning trip to Castlecomer on Sunday for a 9am throw-in against Erin’s Own in the Féile football quarter-final.
Erin’s Own enjoyed plenty of possession in the opening half, but Piltown were far more efficient with their chances. With some composed finishing, Piltown went in at the break leading 0-2 to 1-2.
The second half saw a dominant display from Piltown, who took complete control of the game and delivered an outstanding team performance. They ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 0-3 to 4-4, booking their place in the semi-final.
There was little time to recover as Piltown went straight into a semi-final clash with a fresh and physically strong Bennettsbridge side.
This proved to be a much tighter and more hard-fought contest. The first half mirrored the earlier game, with Piltown working tirelessly without much possession but making the most of what they had. At half-time, the sides were level at 0-2 apiece.
In the second half, Piltown showed huge heart and determination, digging deep and working relentlessly for each other. However, the demands of back-to-back games began to take their toll, with fatigue and a couple of injuries affecting momentum. Despite a brave and committed effort right to the final whistle, Piltown were narrowly defeated on a scoreline of 0-3 to 1-3.
A fantastic day of effort, pride, and determination from a young squad who gave everything for the jersey.
