Today, the Under 15 Paddy Grace Féile hurling competition took place across the county.
Our boys were drawn in a group alongside Blacks & Whites and Clara, with their opening game throwing in at 9am in Clara. In challenging conditions, and with one eye on the approaching storm David, the lads produced some excellent hurling and topped the group comfortably with two strong performances.
Following the group stages, it was back into the cars and on to St John’s Park for the semi-final.
There, we faced the eventual champions, Bennettsbridge. As the storm intensified, our boys battled bravely and gave everything, but Bennettsbridge proved too strong on the day. Unfortunately, we also lost Oran O’Brien, who was a huge loss, to a nasty injury during the game, and we wish him a very speedy recovery.
A special mention must go to our captain, Jack Meaney, who gave his all as always, despite the passing of his grandmother, Anne, yesterday. Our thoughts are with him and his family.
May she rest in peace.
